ROW DTLA
ROW DTLA is an all-encompassing destination in downtown Los Angeles with a collective of shops, restaurants, and offices spread across six buildings on a 32-acre historic site, originally built between 1917 and 1923 along the Southern Pacific Railroad.
The design challenge was to create a graphic language that honored the site's industrial past while serving a contemporary mixed-use destination. Existing painted graphics on the buildings, remnants of the original LA Terminal Market, became the creative anchor for the entire system.
I led the art direction and design of the exterior wayfinding and placemaking graphics throughout the site, including a painted graphic system for buildings and street identifications, a custom die-cut metal directory, vehicular wayfinding signage, large painted entrance graphics, and a retro-inspired freestanding light box for the retail tenant directory.
The project received an Honor Award from SEGD in 2018.
